Walker was born in 1976 in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Her ancestry is African American and she holds an American passport. She is the daughter of Harvey Welker a Native American father, and Julie Welker an African-American mother. Her mother is a real estate agent and her father is an engineer. Walker has completed her studies in the Germantown Friends School (Germantown Region) in Philadelphia where she graduated in 1994. She went to Harvard College, where she obtained a Bachelors in Arts degree. Welker as well as John Hughes, a famous marketing director at Merck Philadelphia with two children together.
